Trump regime and urgency of Marshella Ali and ‘The Salesman’ to win an Oscar

Donald Trump, the US president restored his vengeance upon sexist, racial and religious fraternity that conjoins the world. His wrathful comments just before the US election helped him to gain popularity in term of mass appeal but the ratio difference of his vote between liberals and masses are huge. The imbalance of his power and the opinion of US media is polarizing day by day. In such time when Trump within his first few months banned people from seven Islamic country entering to United State, Marshella Ali and ‘The Salesman’ won big awards in the 89th Academy Award. 

Marsheela Ali, who played a mentor in ‘Moonlight’ become the first Muslim to win the Academy award for acting. Do, giving award to him is a matter of resistance or it is a mere coincidence. ‘Moonlight’ showcased the issue of black people in United State and the constant ‘othering’. But, discourse created by blacks over period of time is now well appreciated in Hollywood. Marsheela Ali represents black in Oscars. But, there is also a thick thin red line about him and his religious identity. He is a Black Muslim who is an American Citizen. In every aspects, he is merely a scapegoat in the Trump regime. But, the representatives of US Cinema, ‘Hollywood’ found himself as a valid contender to give award for Best Supporting Actor. Do, the liberal American slapped the face of Trump administration by this valiant decision. I think so! 

Academy Award always vocal about US politics. Be, it in the 1941 when Roosevelt use the Award for his personal endeavor in Second World War or be it in the 1973 when Marlon Brando used the platform for race related view. Academy Award is the middle of political state of mind of US citizens. Leonardo dicaprio in his reception speech addressed the climate change worldwide. 

Trump administration always attacked the Media claiming the media is its opponent. But, do the media is his opponent or the voice of US liberal mind. Media from his very first doctrine is associated with the mass people. So, we can easily call the media and cinema as the mirror of the society. 

On other hand, Asghar Farhadi won academy award for best foreign language film. Now, the point is whether he will go to US or not amid this ban. The answer is ‘no’ and his consensus is rightfully adjusted in his reception. Trump within few days of his charge in Office, decided to ban Muslims from Seven Islamic Countries including Iran. But, the federal court scrapped his administrative order and let Asghar Farhadi who brings honor in world Cinema to enter in United State. But, Asghar Farhadi did not come to the Oscars saying that he does not believe the constant ‘othering’ and his believe restored in world as single unit. His salesman which deals with the dilemma of a life of salesman and his inner conflict also shows that the east is also deals with such topic of ‘Psychological ambiguity.’
